NovaSure
What is the NovaSure procedure?
The NovaSure procedure is a fast, safe, simple, one-time only endometrial ablation treatment. This minimally invasive procedure controls heavy bleeding by using energy to remove the lining of the uterus. The average treatment time is less than 2 minutes, and only needs to be performed once to lighten or stop your periods. No drugs are needed before the procedure and NovaSure can be performed in the office at Associates in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Without the side effects of hormones or the risks of hysterectomy, NovaSure has a fast recovery time so you can get back to your life sooner. Most women experience no pain after the procedure, and can return to work and regular activities the next day.
Who does NovaSure help?
NovaSure is a procedure for premenopausal women for whom childbearing is complete. If you do not plan to have children in the future, you may want to consider endometrial ablation. In a small percentage of patients, side effects included cramping, nausea/vomiting, discharge, and spotting.
NovaSure reduces bleeding and much more
With more than a half a million patients treated to date, NovaSure is a proven safe and successful procedure. A clinical trial has shown that more than 9 out of 10 women return to normal or lower than normal bleeding levels following treatments with NovaSure. For some women, their periods even stopped entirely.
Other benefits of the NovaSure procedure are:
- a 45% reduction in women reporting PMS
- a 64% reduction in women reporting pain
- a 68% reduction in women reporting anxiety
- a 71% reduction in women reporting
a lack of self-confidence - a 80% reduction in women missing work, social activities, and/or other daily activities because of heavy bleeding
